ABOUT ME
I am a psychologist and CBT psychotherapist. I like to work in therapy in a verbal and non-verbal way (imagination, relaxation techniques, experiential methods, behavioral experiments, sometimes we even draw something). I am also trained in other methods (art therapy, coaching) and I like to take from them what works for a specific client.
I keep to learning new things and I think most psychologists have this as a life-long "lifestyle". In recent years, I have enjoyed learning more about working with couples. My dream for the future is to have a chance to run group therapy.
Why CBT?
I like that Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has a wide application, is evidence based, is in line with my way of thinking (and it is therefore natural that it may not suit everyone), is constantly evolving and I perceive it as an integrative and lively form of psychotherapy.
It was originally developed as an approach to treating phobias and anxiety, either purely by working with thoughts or behaviour. Gradually, it has been developed and expanded to work also with the body and emotions, using mindfullness techniques and working with emotions using the method of schematherapy.
What can I expect?
At the beginning we will set up therapeutical goals. During the therapy we mainly talk in order to understand your behaviour, thoughts, emotions and bodily symptoms. We can practice difficult situations, use imaginations to connect with your inner feelings, do relaxation to release tension, and more. Often you will get a "homework", that would help to develop, to explore or to practice the topic we were working on. That all creates a comprehensive system how to work with yourself, ultimately to be "your own therapist" and live independent and high quality life.
